At Yarralinda School we believe that knowledge should be empowering and that a good education should prepare young people so that they can make a difference, wherever they go. To nurture this ambition, we work with the children to develop a love of knowledge. We teach them the skills to become effective problem solvers. We teach them to reason with the information they are given. And, above all else, we encourage them to seek out and enjoy challenge.
We provide all this in a safe, caring and welcoming environment that gives children the confidence to spread their wings. We are a small school with a strong sense of family. This means we have the time and interest to really get to know your child and help him or her get the most from their years at Yarralinda School.
We use certain tools to help the children achieve their goals. At Yarralinda School we teach children how to learn. Many of us can probably remember times when we were unable to unravel areas of confusion and the overwhelming sense of frustration that accompanied it. Over time, that sense of frustration can become enough to make a young person quit school. Imagine if children could be taught the skills to decode and engage with their learning so that they actually enjoyed it? Children at Yarralinda School learn theses skills to become confident independent learners.
Learning really is fun. We make sure it is. Quite apart from our classroom based programs, we also do lots of hands-on learning and have the children attend several excursions each term. We have strong music, art and sport programs and also put emphasis on developing good communication skills, manners and a strong sense of integrity.
We teach to a high standard and graduate bright, capable, young people ready to embark upon life in secondary school. At Yarralinda School we love being able to provide such a wonderful learning environment for the children.
